Jerome, Arizona

About 90 miles north Phoenix, Jerome Arizona has been called “America’s Most Vertical City” and “Largest Ghost Town in America.” Jerome is located high atop Cleopatra Hill, between Prescott and Flagstaff Arizona, established on a 30-degree incline. Jerome was a historic copper mining town, once known as the wickedest town in the old west. Once just a copper mining camp, Jerome grew from a settlement of tents to a roaring mining community. Founded in 1876, Jerome was once the fourth largest city in the Arizona Territory. After the mining operations closed, the town population dispersed. Today Jerome is a thriving tourist and artist community with a population of about 450. It is a photographers dream. It is home to several fine restaurants, shops, and bed and breakfast inns.

Tombstone, Arizona

The Arizona Science Center is located in downtown Phoenix at 600 E. Washington Street. The center offers hands-on eye-opening fun for everyone. This National Register site served as both the Capitol of the Arizona Territory and the State Capitol and has been restored to its historic appearance. Camelback Mountain

Camelback Mountain is famous for its telltale hump giving it the shape of a resting camel, and for the unique rock formation that resembles a Praying Monk. Camelback Mountain has a summit of 2.704 feet above sea level and offers hiking trails with an elevation of over 1,200 feet. The unique features along with the sheer red sandstone cliffs, draws thousands of hikers to Camelback each year. Friendly advice: Hiking to the top is not for beginning hikers — the two summit trails are strenuous climbs over sometime tricky trails. Some easier trails allow close-up exploration around Camelback’s base. Trailheads are open from sunrise to sunset daily except when closed for maintenance.

The Dolly Steamboat

Cruise Canyon Lake on Arizona’s “Junior Grand Canyon” Tour as a guest on The Dolly Steamboat. An old-fashioned rear paddle wheeler, the Dolly offers daily sightseeing cruises of beautiful Canyon Lake.  The Dolly has been cruising the waters of Canyon Lake for over 25 years. The Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon National Park offers an elevation spanning from around 2000 feet to over 8000 feet, and a variety of weather conditions as well. You will find powerful and inspiring landscape, and you may become overwhelmed by the canyons immense size; 277 river miles long, up to 18 miles wide, and a mile deep. Today the Grand Canyon National Park receives close to five million visitors each year. The temperatures can be quite cold so bring a jacket. The Grand Canyon is a “must experience” opportunity.

Hall of Flame Firefighter Museum

The Hall of Flame Fire Museum and the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes has almost an acre of fire history exhibits, with over 90 fully restored pieces of fire apparatus on display, dating from 1725 to 1969. Most of the exhibits are American, but we also have pieces from England, France, Austria, Germany, and Japan. The Hall of Flame sponsors the National Firefighting Hall of Heroes, which honors firefighters who have died in the line of duty or who have been decorated for heroism.
