Echo Canyon

Welcome to Echo Canyon Recreation Area,

also called Camelback Mountain.

Echo Canyon

Camelback Mountain draws thousands of hikers each year with its sheer red sandstone cliffs and its telltale hump. Please note that hiking to the very top on the mountain is not for beginners.

Echo Canyon

Their are some easier trails that do allow more close-up exploration around Camelback’s base. The two summit trails are considered a more strenuous climb over sometimes tricky trails.

Trailheads are open from sunrise to sunset daily.
Admission into the recreation area is free.

When to Go:
Early in the day is best, when temperatures are cooler. If you chose to go in the evening, please be sure to leave enough time to descend safely before dark.

Know Before You Go:
Please give ascending hikers the right-of-way, always tote your garbage out with you and stay out of caves and crevices for safety reasons.
